Body Mass Index

Body Mass Index, referred to as BMI is an estimate of total body fat based on your height and weight. It's important to know your BMI because excess body fat can put you at risk for health problems such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, depression and arthritis.

To calculate your BMI yourself, use the chart below.

This simple Body Mass Index table will let you know what you're approximate weight should be. BMI uses a mathematical formula based on a person's height and weight. BMI equals your weight in kilograms divided by your height in metres squared.

All you need to do is check your height and the corresponding weight. Next weigh yourself and subtract the weight that the BMI table tells you is your ideal weight from your current weight. The difference is the approximate amount of weight you need to lose. The figures on the scale are for females, so if you are a male add 5 kg to the weight that is in line with your height.

If your BMI is 25-27, which is around five to ten kilos overweight you have a increased risk of weight-related health problems. Try to maintain your weight and, ideally, reduce it.

If your BMI is 27-30, ten to twenty kilos overweight your risk of health problems becomes higher. In a recent study, an increased rate of high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease was recorded at 27.3 for women and 27.8 for men. It may be a good idea to call Think Slim and take control before the problem gets any worse. Think Slim will help you look and feel fantastic in no time.

With a BMI of 30-35 around twenty to thirty-five kilos overweight you are considered to be obese (seriously overweight). Your risk of weight-related illness is significantly increased, especially if you have a larger than recommended waist circumference or any of the additional weight related risk factors. Ideally, consider reducing your weight by 5-10 percent. Such a weight reduction will result in considerable health improvements.

If you have a BMI of 35-39.99 approximately thirty-five to fifty kilos overweight your risk of weight-related health problems and even death, is severe. You may want to talk to your Doctor or health professional and seriously make the changes you need to make.

If you have a BMI of forty plus, more than fifty kilos over your ideal weight, you have an extremely high risk of weight-related disease and premature death. Indeed, you may already be suffering from a weight-related condition. For the sake of your health it is very important to see your doctor and get started on Think Slim to help you with your condition.
